Civil war soldiers- Union

Samuel G Humiston from Oneida County NY served with 54th Mass- involved with the southern portion of the Union army’s siege of Vicksburg Mississippi

Daniel E Burbank from Fitzwilliam NH. Served company A 2nd NH infantry (volunteer) Active in the first Battle of Bull Run

Zebedee Stout Meserole from Lockport in Western NY. Served with a NY Cavalry unit. Received Horse. training and uniform. Was dispatched with unit to the Virginia theater of the war. Deserted with horse and gear. Encouraged by relatives to go to Canada (Ancaster area) where he died and had changed his name to mother’s maiden name of Stout. Died apparently destitute in the Ontario area of Canada

Frederick Reifsteck- enlisted 1861 from NY, subsequently captured in action at Drury’s Bluff Va. sent to Andersonville prison. Subsequently paroled and signed an oath to no rejoin the war. A short time later Ulysses Grant halted the paroling of prisoners.
